About Uma
I am a student currently studying English literature and creative writing in college. I absolutely love English and I hope that I can share my love of literature with as many people as possible! My passion for teaching started three years ago when I first started tutoring English. My love for teaching has only grown since then and I have been a teaching assistant as well as a peer tutor for the past two years.

- My teaching method is centered around collaboration and flexibility. I tailor my lessons to each individual student based on their needs and their learning pace.
- When I first meet with students I find it the most helpful to set goals about what they want to get out of our sessions - this helps both me and the student monitor our progress in a concrete way over time.
- As a student myself, I understand how to learn and I find that this really helps me connect with my students in a way that someone who has been out of school for many years could not.
- My lessons are for anyone from elementary through high school and can range from phonetics and reading comprehension to ACT prep!
