I'm incredibly passionate about creative writing, and at the end of the day, I think learning should be fun, so I'm committed to upholding that. I follow a student-led interest-oriented approach to teaching, which is what really keeps the learning process engaging and enjoyable.

Creative writing is about expression, but it is also about reading. My lessons start off with assigned readings that are personalized to the student's interests. These readings are used as a springboard to discuss things like theme, character development, plot, voice, etc. Next, the student will get to delve into the actual writing process, which can be anything from a novel to a short story to poetry. After the first draft is completed I read through the student's work and give detailed and concrete feedback for them to make changes as needed. We can do as many rounds of edits as necessary, and from there we can work together to publish the work if desired.
