About Darryl
I am a credited screenwriter, a member of the WGAW, and a traditionally published author with eleven novels in print, four of which have garnered national awards. I enjoy helping students and adults who want to complete works of fiction. I taught the Advanced Screenwriting course offered by the Radio/TV/Film Department at the University of Texas at Austin for ten years and got very good reviews from students for that work. I have also edited manuscripts for folks seeking to have their novel or memoir published.
I look forward to building expertise and confidence in those who are serious about seeing their work in print or onscreen.

My experience with students who aspire to write a screenplay or short story or novel is that they usually have very good language skills but need help with narrative structure. I use Syd Field's book, THE SCREENPLAY, to give new writers a very strong and simple paradigm that is indispensable to creating a logically developing narrative that has dramatic appeal.
