About Marissa

Hi! I'm Marissa, a credentialed California teacher and reading intervention specialist with experience supporting elementary and middle school students across a wide range of learning needs. Throughout my career, I have helped students strengthen their reading, writing, comprehension, and overall academic confidence using evidence-based instructional practices.

I am trained in structured literacy approaches, including the Science of Reading, and I believe every student can succeed when instruction is personalized, engaging, and supportive. My teaching style is patient, encouraging, and goal-oriented, creating a positive learning environment where students feel comfortable taking risks and growing their skills.

Whether your child needs targeted reading support, help with writing, homework assistance, or additional academic enrichment, I am committed to helping them make meaningful progress while building confidence that extends beyond the classroom.

About the lesson

My lessons are grounded in evidence-based instructional practices, including the Science of Reading, structured literacy, and explicit, systematic teaching methods that help students build lasting skills and confidence. I specialize in helping elementary and middle school students strengthen reading comprehension, phonics, fluency, writing, vocabulary, and overall academic confidence. I also support English learners and students who benefit from additional scaffolding and personalized instruction.
