About Johanna
Hey there! I'm a recent grad of Columbia University, and I absolutely love to teach. I have 7 years of experience as a piano teacher and 1 year of experience as a web development instructor, but besides these two teaching paths, I've also been an on/off tutor since high school. I specialized computer science and sustainable development for my undergrad, and totally geek out on finding intersections between the two. I'm aiming to fill my evenings and weekends tutoring students on a variety of subjects - my favorites are computer science, math, and music, but am open to other subjects as well. As a self-identified overachiever and over-planner, I want to help other students achieve all of their academic pursuits as best as possible. I've worked with students ages 5-40 in the past, and find it super fun adapting to different ages and learning styles.

I have 8 years of teaching experience, ranging from being a piano teacher to high school tutor, and one year of experience as a web development instructor for a top coding bootcamp. As someone who has taught 8 year olds how to use Scratch and code in Python, as well as teach 25-40 year olds how to build a fullstack application, I am very comfortable with building new lesson plans and outlines for individual students. Depending on my student's learning goals, whether it's learning Java or Python or another language, we'll work together to construct a learning plan that makes sense academically and logistically. I am open to teaching elementary school student or adults alike, and anywhere in between.
