About Kathaleen
I have always been a lover of math. In fact I loved math so much I went to math camp in 7th grade and continued with weekend math classes at my program throughout middle and high school. I continued to do college level math courses through my IB program in high school and eventually I became a camp counsellor at my math camp. I was a teaching assistant for a euclidian geometry class for 6th graders where we taught them concepts from high school trigonometry and geometry. In my math journey I am currently taking economics and political science related math courses in college.

The way I learned to love math was through having a choice in how I learned. My teachers taught meet math could be used practically or for fun. I strive to teach in that same way. I also have a policy of trying to give as few straight forward answers as possible. A lot of math is about logic and being able to see patterns in the way it works. It doesn't help students when answers are given to them. I prioritise giving hints or clues that not only get the student to figure out the problem but gain confidence in their own abilities.
