About Richard
I am a professional tenor, Brighton Early Music Festival Emerging Artist 2025/2026 and Philip and Dorothy Green Young Artist 2026/2027. I graduated with Distinction from the MMus course in Vocal Performance at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire. I have performed at festivals like Opera Holland Park, West Green House Opera and Brighton Early Music Festival and with prestigious choirs such as the National Youth Choir of Scotland, the City of Birmingham Symphony Chorus and Ex Cathedra. I have studied with some of the UK's leading singing teachers such as Robert Dean, Anthony Roden and Christopher Turner. I have participated in masterclasses with George Petrou in Sweden, with Les Arts Florissants and Paul Agnew in France and with Sophie Daneman and Michele Pasotti through the BREMF Emerging Artist Scheme. I pass on what I have learned to my students. I very much enjoy helping students develop and achieve their goals. I have an Enhanced DBS check and have 7 years of experience of working with children and young people.

I tailor lessons to individual students and strive to make all lessons fun. I am passionate about teaching and very much enjoy helping students achieve their goals. My emphasis is on building a healthy and sustainable vocal technique. I am happy to teach students of all ages/ levels and in all styles. I offer 30 minute, 45 minute and 60 minute lessons.

Perfect! Sebi had his first lesson with Richard and it was a lovely experience from the start. The first thing he said when he came out was, “I loved it!” which says a lot. Richard made everything easy to follow and has such a gentle, encouraging approach. It was lovely to see Sebi looking him straight in the eyes and soaking everything up, something that can sometimes be quite a difficult ask for an 8 yo boy! We can’t wait for the next lesson!
