About Sean
Hello! My name is Sean W , and I’m a native Chinese speaker fluent in both Mandarin and Cantonese. I was born and raised in Malaysia , and for the past 15+ years, I’ve been living in the UK, which means I’m also highly fluent in English — both spoken and written. Because I understand both Chinese and English deeply, I can explain Chinese grammar, tones, and cultural context in a way that’s clear, natural, and easy to follow — especially for English speakers.

This session is specially designed for those who: *Want to speak Mandarin Chinese fluently and naturally *Struggle with confidence or pronunciation *Want to use Chinese in daily life, travel, work, or with friends *Have studied Chinese before but feel stuck or hesitant to speak “Learn to Speak by Speaking.” The heart of my method is immersion through communication. That means every session is centred around speaking, listening, and real conversations, rather than memorising textbooks or grammar rules in isolation. --------------------------------------------------------- First 10 Minutes – Warm-Up & Confidence Building We begin with: *Light conversation (even at beginner levels) *Review of vocabulary in a real-world context *Pronunciation drills using Pinyin and tones *Encouragement — no pressure, no perfectionism This helps create a relaxed, low-pressure environment where you can feel safe making mistakes — because that’s how fluency grows. 10–30 Minutes – Core Technique: Interactive Speaking Practice This is the core of our methodology: *Roleplay conversations (ordering food, making a friend, job interview) *Q&A drills to build fast thinking in Chinese *Shadowing technique – repeating after native speakers to train rhythm and tone *Chunking – learning whole phrases, not just vocabulary This section trains your brain to think in Chinese, not translate from English. 30–45 Minutes – Listening + Vocabulary in Context We’ll introduce: *Short, level-appropriate dialogues or stories *Listening with purpose (answering questions, summarising) *Vocabulary acquisition through usage, not lists You’ll hear natural Chinese spoken at different speeds and learn to listen actively — a key to speaking fluently. 45–55 Minutes – Student-Led Speaking & Correction You’ll take the lead in: *Creating sentences *Talking about your own life and interests *Explaining your opinions I provide: *Gentle correction *Suggestions for more natural phrasing *Personalised feedback to boost your fluency Last 5 Minutes – Wrap-Up & Homework Before we finish: *Quick review of what you learned *A speaking challenge for the next class (real-world scenario) *Optional recording task to practise between lessons Why This Method Works You’re speaking from Day 1 – no passive learning Mistakes are embraced, not punished We focus on communication, not perfection Everything is customised to your level and interests You learn Chinese as it’s really spoken, not textbook-style Final Words If you’re ready to stop studying Chinese and start speaking it — fluently, naturally, and confidently — I invite you to join my classes.
