About April
I have loved teaching chemistry since I started 8 years ago. I wanted to be able to do science and I wanted to have a fulfilling career, so teaching was the natural next step. I enjoy helping students learn the foundations of chemistry and also the really advanced material. I think chemistry is useful for any direction a student might go in STEM, and I am grateful to be part of that academic pathway and journey.

My Approach as a Chemistry Tutor
I take a clear, patient, and highly structured approach to teaching chemistry. My goal is to help every student truly understand the concepts—not just memorize them—so they can build lasting confidence and success.
Teaching Methods and Techniques:
I break complex topics into simple, manageable steps. I explain each concept clearly, using real-world examples and visuals to make abstract ideas more concrete. I also adapt my explanations to fit each student’s learning style, whether they are more visual, verbal, or hands-on learners.
A Typical Lesson Plan:
Each session begins with a formative question or quick review to assess understanding and activate prior knowledge. We then dive into the main lesson, where I introduce new material and guide the student through key concepts. Finally, we apply the learning through targeted practice problems, during which I provide immediate feedback and coaching.
What Sets Me Apart:
I bring 8 years of experience teaching high school chemistry, along with a Master’s degree and deep expertise in the subject. But just as important, I know how to teach—not just what to teach. I am patient and encouraging, but also efficient and focused, helping students make the most of their time. I pride myself on clarity and helping students reach those “aha!” moments that spark real understanding.
