About Renee
Independent school teacher of regular and honors level chemistry classes. Having taught hundreds of students basic problem solving skills as well as chemistry content, I am proud of the fact that students who didn't love science still enjoyed coming to my class. My background includes teaching small classes (8-16 students) with extensive laboratory exercises in addition to a lot of one-on-one help on a regular basis.

I have a bachelors and masters degree with a background in science and liberal studies (psychology minor, foreign language through college, all pre-med requirements completed in college). I have taught high school chemistry, introductory physical science as well as a senior capstone course.
Personalized/differentiated and inquiry-based instruction is very successful in chemistry but find flipped lessons and direct instruction very valuable as well. In chemistry, content is often presented and then significant practice is needed with varying levels of difficulty to the problems. Understanding information is crucial instead of memorizing it.
