About Jessica
I earned my Ph.D. at the University of California, San Francisco in the area of Chemistry and Chemical Biology. I earned my B.A. from Swarthmore College in Chemistry. I am a published scientific author. My research interests focus on examining the structural biology of membrane proteins using X-ray crystallography.
I have experience as a teaching assistant for General Chemistry, Biochemistry, and Pharmaceutical Chemistry courses. This involved leading recitation courses for undergraduate and professional students, and also assisting with teaching undergraduate laboratory sections. I have experience with proctoring and grading exams, which is a definite advantage when tutoring because I know how university exams are structured and can give tips on how to prepare for exams.

I teach students at all levels: elementary school, middle school, high school, undergraduate, and graduate/professional.
What is the world made of? How do the principles of chemistry and physics shape the observable phenomena that surround us? Studying science is a powerful way to understand the world we live in.
I typically tutor students who need help with a course that they are taking, or who are preparing for exams. I design lesson plans around the topics that the student is having trouble with. By the end of the lesson they have a better understanding of the subject matter and are better prepared for their classes and exams.
