About Abby
As a chemical engineering graduate and current biomedical engineering graduate student, I have extensive experience applying math and science to real-world problems. I understand that these subjects can become overwhelming when students miss one foundational concept, so I focus on building a strong foundation rather than simply helping students memorize answers. My goal is not only to help students improve their grades, but also to help them become more confident and independent problem-solvers.

I believe the best way to learn math and science is through practice, repetition, and understanding the “why” behind each step. I break difficult concepts into smaller, manageable pieces and then work through problems together. Once a student understands the process, I use repetition and increasingly challenging practice problems to help build confidence and make the skills feel natural.
I also adapt my teaching style to each student. If a student is struggling with a particular concept, I will slow down, explain it differently, and work through additional examples until it clicks.
I like to begin by reviewing what the student is currently learning and identifying any areas where they are having difficulty. We then review the underlying concepts before working through example problems together. The majority of the lesson is spent practicing problems, with me providing guidance and feedback as needed. I finish by reviewing the key ideas from the lesson and identifying what the student should continue practicing independently.
I primarily tutor middle and high school students in math and science, including students who need additional practice, help understanding difficult concepts, or preparation for upcoming tests and assignments. I am especially interested in helping students build strong foundations in subjects such as algebra, geometry, pre-calculus, chemistry, and general science.
