I never planned to become a somatic movement teacher, but looking back, teaching has always been part of my life โ from tutoring English, to teaching pole dance, to facilitating embodiment practices. Over time, I realized what I enjoy most is seeing people become more present, more alive, and more at ease in themselves.
My interest in somatics grew out of my own search for grounding after a period of intense plant medicine experiences.
Meditation and contemplative practice gave me profound insights, but I discovered that insight alone doesn't automatically change how we live. Somatic movement became the missing piece โ it helped me embody those insights in everyday life.
Just as importantly, it showed me that my body was capable of feeling vibrant, not just exhausted, anxious, or overwhelmed. Discovery of somatics changed the direction of my life.

Since then, I've completed certification in Body-Mind Centering, studied movement-based practices inspired by the Franklin Method, and continued training in mindfulness and somatic approaches. I also bring over twenty years of experience as a dancer and choreographer.
I've shared this work in community settings including Greatwoods, Bright Haven, and Sacred Roots. One of the most rewarding parts of teaching is watching people become calmer, more present, and more at home in their bodies over the course of a session.

Alongside my somatic training, I've maintained a long-term meditation practice and explored contemplative traditions from both Buddhist and Hindu lineages. They continue to inspire both my own practice and the way I guide others.
I'm endlessly fascinated by the moment someone notices something they've never paid attention to before: the support of their skeleton, the movement of their breath, or how different standing can feel when they're actually aware of their body. Those small moments of discovery often lead to the biggest shifts.

I don't believe lasting change comes from pushing harder. I believe it comes from learning when to slow down, when to listen, and when your body has had enough. That's the relationship I hope to help people build with themselves.

We usually begin with a short conversation, silent meditation and a brief movement check-in to notice how you're arriving. ~ 10 min
From there, I'll guide you through gentle movement, breath, and body awareness. Drawing on Body-Mind Centering, we might explore the support of your skeleton, the organization of your muscles, your breath, or the relationship between different parts of your body. ~ 40 min
We finish with optional sharing and a short silent meditation. ~ 10 min

Everything we do can be adapted to your energy level, comfort, and experience. You're welcome to ask questions, pause whenever you need to, or spend more time exploring something that feels curious.

Perfect! I felt instantly at ease with Anna from the first session. She has a warm, grounded presence and deep experience in both somatic movement and mindfulness practice, which comes through in how she holds space. If you haven't attended one of Anya's somatic movement workshops, you better start moving in this direction! Anya's approach feels very expansive and inclusive. I feel very held and safe to explore my body in new ways. I hope to attend more of her workshops in the future, because I always feel like I leave more open and curious than before.
Anna is one of the best facilitators for yoga, somatic work, and body movement I have ever experienced. Anna has facilitated somatic sessions for a variety of wellness/ connection based workshops I've attended.
I'm always surprised and impressed by how different I feel after. I sometimes feel awkward around body/movement based practices, but I've noticed that following her sessions I feel much less inhibited in the moment.
Once they're done, I feel way more present, every single time. She also makes it fun by incorporating music and art.

Anna is a dynamic and connective movement teacher. I have experienced her teaching after seated meditation. She seamlessly transformed the energy from meditation into a full-body mindfulness experience. The movements she leads feel spontaneous and appropriate for the moment. I have a hard time not feeling self conscious about somatic movement when practicing in a group but Iโm slowly learning with Annaโs help to practice it any way and pause when Iโm not comfortable doing something. In doing this somatic time with Anna, I have noticed that I am discovering a better relationship with my body. I find I am much looser, less self-conscious, and have an internal feeling of freedom. In today's session, I could feel the movements in a new wayโwithout my brain. I was sensing my deeper self as part of my bodyโsomething that has not happened before. This is a much lighter way of being, as somehow the movements shed the heaviness that I sadly carry in myself.

Great teacher with unique techniques
Anna is a wonderful pole teacher. She is very responsive and easy to coordinate with. She always has a great lesson planned complete with warm ups and cool downs. She teaches tricks and more flow like dance moves as well. Highly recommended :)
