About Catherine
I care about my students and want them to succeed. Every student deserves to be treated with dignity and respect by their teachers. Before beginning my teaching career, I worked as the warden’s administrative assistant at a medium/maximum security prison and had good relationships with the inmates I worked with because we had mutual respect for each other.

After 20+ years of teaching, I pattern lessons based on the belief that students learn when they are actually interested in the content being taught. I try to find material students will be engaged in and use it to cover all elements of high school English including vocabulary, grammar, writing, analysis, critical thinking, etc. For example, I am currently tutoring a high school student, and we are using Miracle on the Hudson as our core text because he is interested and engaged by the true story of flight 1549.
