About Joshua
Hello, I'm Josh, and after finishing my Cambridge maths degree and multiple years tutoring maths on various platforms, I enjoy continuing to engage with high-level mathematics and find mentoring younger mathematicians immensely rewarding! I took STEP back in 2023 from a state school with very limited provision for those taking the STEP exams, and I'd like to give back to younger people in a similar position to where I was.
I am a Cambridge mathematics graduate and incoming MSc Information and Cyber Security candidate at RHUL. Before that I achieved 4 A* at A level (Maths, Further Maths, Physics, History) and 12 GCSEs at grade 9.

In your sessions I intend to work principally on solving questions, with myself asking guiding questions and giving leading prompts to help you work as independently as possible from day one. I avoid lecturing insofar as possible.
I find hour-long sessions typically the most effective, but I am very open to adjusting session length based on your feedback.
Beyond my mathematics degree from the University of Cambridge, I have tutored previously for MyTutor and currently for U2 Tuition and UniAdmissions in A level mathematics and UK university entrance. Additionally, I have represented the Cambridge mathematics department as a STEP ambassador at the university's applicant open days, and volunteered as a STEP mentor at Cambridge Maths School.
My lessons are targeted at Sixth Form students studying A level mathematics/further mathematics, and those applying for mathematical science subjects at competitive UK universities, in particular the University of Cambridge. I also support those studying further maths independently e.g. students whose school does not offer the subject.
