About Marcuse
I am a second-year undergrad at the University of Canterbury, double-majoring in Psychology and Sociology, minoring in Classical History. I went through and completed IGCSE to A-Levels in Classics, History and English, with a NZQA Scholarship for Classics and History, all of which focusing heavily on essay-writing and writing technique.
As a student who received invaluable knowledge in how to excel in those subjects and exams, I aim to do the same for anyone in need. I enjoy not only the subjects themselves, but also developing a strong curiousity in these subjects in others just as I have experienced

Within my lessons, I will go over the complexities and nuances that Cambridge students are expected to be familiar with in the subjects they take. I will also explain the marking system of Cambridge in order to maximize the marks that a student will be able to acquire using the knowledge I have to teach them. I aim to enhance essay-writing technique and text analysis under time-pressure, and explaining the system in which students will be tested against.
Within my lessons, I will go over essay planning, technique, text analysis and multiple structures of essays using past-paper questions and exemplary essays to pick apart and understand.
My lessons are aimed towards all students in the Cambridge education pathway (IGCSE, AS, A-Level) regarding these subjects:
- Classics (Homeric Epics, Aeneid, Peloponnesian War, Alexander the Great)
- History (American Cold War, WWII, French and Russian Revolution)
