About Amy
I am currently a lab manager with daily tasks involving everything from biomedical research to keeping things in the lab running. I've spent many years doing research as well as training the next generation of scientists in research techniques, presentation techniques and scientific reading and understanding. When I was teaching as an adjunct I loved having office hours for students to come and get one on one help with things they didn't fully grasp. I believe science should never be intimidating and no question is too simple or wrong. It is all part of the learning experience and I try to make all feel comfortable in the skills they currently have while working to gain new ones.

I taught genetics as an adjunct professor at a major university for seven semesters, as well as teaching topics on bioethics and tutoring general and molecular bio. I love to be able to explain things to students in a way they can understand and even in the classroom used various hands-on learning techniques. It is fun for me to see students who struggled to understand a concept have the lights go on and get excited over what they are learning. Science is about discovery and should be a fun adventure in the learning process!
