About Xu
I am a Biology graduate currently completing teacher training at the University of Waikato. I have experience teaching students online in my home country and now wish to gain further experience by supporting learners here in New Zealand. Having struggled with certain subjects myself, I understand the importance of patient guidance and personalized teaching to help students succeed. I am friendly, patient, and easy-going, while also being reliable and professional. My goal is to create a positive learning environment where students feel confident, supported, and motivated.

I believe every student learns best when lessons are personalised and engaging. My approach is to identify each student’s strengths and challenges, then explain concepts step by step with clear examples and active practice. I firmly believe in making lessons interactive so students stay motivated and confident.
A typical lesson is around 1 hour, with time to review past material, introduce new ideas, and practice together. I previously taught students online in my home country, and I am currently completing teacher training at the University of Waikato. Having struggled with some subjects myself as a student, I understand how important proper assistance can be when studying topics that don’t feel easy or interesting at first. Tutoring is a great way for me to gain more experience while supporting learners.
My lessons are for high school students (Years 9–13) working towards NCEA in Biology, Maths, or Junior Physics, as well as younger students who need help building strong foundations in science and maths.
