About Madeleine
As a future certified teacher with a bachelor’s degree in math & physics from McMaster University and current studies in the Bachelor of Education program at Queen’s University, I bring both strong subject knowledge and real classroom experience. I’ve completed multiple teaching placements in high school math and physics, working with students of all skill levels to help them not only improve their grades but actually enjoy the process. My approach is patient, clear, and encouraging. I break down complex ideas into manageable steps, provide personalized practice materials, and adapt to each student’s learning style. My lessons are built around one goal: making complex math and physics concepts feel clear, manageable, and even enjoyable. I start each session by checking in on what you’re currently learning and identifying the specific concepts you’re struggling with. From there, we break the topic down into smaller, logical steps — no rushing, no assuming you “should already know” something. A typical lesson might look like: - Quick review & warm-up to build confidence and recall key ideas. - Step-by-step explanation of the new concept, using examples and visuals where possible. - Guided practice — we work through problems together, with me asking targeted questions to check understanding. - Review my suggestions of independent practice, so you start applying the concept on your own - Wrap-up & next steps — summarizing what you’ve learned and setting a clear plan for what to focus on before our next session. I adapt to your learning style — whether you need visual diagrams, real-world examples, practice-heavy sessions, or conceptual discussions. I also provide custom practice materials and tips for tackling tricky problems so you can feel prepared for tests and assignments. My goal is not only to help you get the right answers, but to understand why the answers work — so you leave each lesson more confident and independent in your learning.
