About Elizabeth
I am a First-Class Criminology graduate, recipient of the Best Dissertation 2025 Award, and MA Law (PGDL) graduate with Distinction, with two years' tutoring experience supporting students at undergraduate and postgraduate level.
I achieved 80% in my undergraduate dissertation, an independent qualitative research project examining domestic abuse within LGBTQ+ contexts. My research involved developing and refining a research question, conducting an extensive literature review, designing and justifying a methodology, analysing qualitative data using reflexive thematic analysis, and bringing the findings together into a coherent academic argument.
This experience means I understand that completing a strong dissertation requires much more than academic writing. Students have to make and justify decisions throughout the research process while maintaining a clear connection between their research question, literature, methodology, analysis and conclusions.
I now support undergraduate and postgraduate students through different stages of their own dissertation projects. I have supported 20+ students through Superprof alongside my wider tutoring work, including students requiring support with research methods, data analysis and extended academic projects.
As a dyslexic graduate, I also understand how challenging it can be to manage a large project, process substantial amounts of literature and maintain structure across multiple chapters. My approach is therefore highly structured: I help students break the dissertation into manageable stages, establish clear priorities and understand what they need to do next.
My role is to provide guidance, teaching, planning and detailed developmental feedback. I do not write assessed work for students; my aim is to help students develop the skills and confidence to produce a strong dissertation independently.

Dissertation support is tailored to the stage you have reached in your research project. Whether you are starting with a broad area of interest, struggling with a particular chapter or preparing your final draft, sessions focus on identifying what needs to happen next and making the project feel manageable.
Before our first session, I will normally ask you to send your dissertation guidance, marking criteria and any work you have already completed. Where relevant, you can also send supervisor feedback so that we can identify how to respond to it effectively.
Depending on the stage of your dissertation, sessions can focus on:
* Narrowing a broad topic into a workable research question
* Developing aims, objectives and research questions
* Planning the overall dissertation structure
* Building a realistic chapter plan and timeline
* Finding, organising and critically engaging with literature
* Structuring and developing a literature review
* Identifying gaps, debates and themes within existing research
* Understanding qualitative and quantitative research approaches
* Selecting and justifying an appropriate methodology
* Research design and methodological limitations
* Approaching qualitative data and thematic analysis
* Understanding quantitative findings and presenting results
* Structuring findings, analysis and discussion chapters
* Connecting findings back to the literature and research question
* Responding effectively to supervisor feedback
* Strengthening coherence across chapters
* Reviewing a draft for structure, argument and areas requiring further development
* Preparing for dissertation presentations or vivas
For students at the beginning of their dissertation, we can develop a clear plan for the project and break it into manageable stages. For students further through the process, sessions can focus on individual chapters, methodological decisions, analysis or supervisor feedback.
I can also provide ongoing dissertation support across multiple sessions. This can be particularly useful for students who want regular structure and accountability throughout a longer research project rather than seeking help only when a deadline is approaching.
My strongest research background is within criminology and the wider social sciences, particularly qualitative research and reflexive thematic analysis. I can also support students with broader research-methods principles while being transparent about the limits of my expertise where a project requires highly specialised methodological or statistical knowledge.
All dissertation support is developmental. I will help you understand your options, evaluate your decisions and improve your own work, but I will not conduct research or write assessed material on your behalf.
Who is this for:
This support may be particularly useful if you:
- have a dissertation topic but don't know how to turn it into a viable research question;
- feel overwhelmed by the size of the project or unsure where to start;
- are struggling to structure your literature review;
- are confused about methodology or how to justify your research choices;
- have received supervisor feedback but are unsure how to implement it;
- have collected or obtained data but are unsure how to approach the analysis;
- are struggling to connect your chapters into one coherent argument;
- want regular guidance and structure throughout the dissertation process;
- or are approaching submission or a viva and want to identify remaining weaknesses.
