About Sophie
I graduated highschool in 2021 with an ATAR of 98.35, scoring an E4 in Maths Ext 1, E4 in Maths Ext 2, Band 6 in Physics, Band 6 in English Advanced and a high Band 5 in Chemistry. I got offered a "UTS Science High Achievers Scholarship" and am currently studying a Bachelor of Science at UTS, majoring in Mathematics!
Although this is my first official tutoring application, I have always been passionate to teach others about mathematics and the sciences! I am determined to help the student to increase their exam marks and guide them to reaching a high ATAR, but more importantly, also ignite an interest in the vast field of math and science.

My tutoring methods are flexible and catered to each student specifically so that they can learn in the most understandable and simple way.
I generally like to structure my classes by:
- confronting particular areas the student is struggling with, by going over multiple examples and questions in a clear, patient way
- expanding the student's knowledge regarding certain topics by challenging them with harder, HSC/exam-like questions
- and lastly, giving a small worksheet or a quick quiz to revise the topic as I believe that repetition is KEY in consolidating mathematical and scientific concepts
Throughout these lessons, I will use plenty of resources to aid the student, varying from multiple textbooks to my own personal notes I used in the HSC. I am very passionate to share my collection of tips and tricks that made topics like Calculus and Trig an interesting tool and field, rather than a "intimidating last-question" in an exam.
Additionally, as I graduated high school very recently (2021) I am very up-to-date with the HSC syllabus and can accurately teach the right mathematical strategies to answer questions (having been through the same process not too long ago).
My lessons are priced at $35 per hour and are held online.
