About Sanaa
Hi! I'm Sanaa, a native English speaker from Washington, D.C., a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant in Austria, and a certified TEFL instructor with hundreds of hours of teaching and tutoring experience.
One of my favorite parts of working with students is getting to know them as individuals and creating lessons around their interests, goals, and learning style. I believe students learn best when they feel comfortable, encouraged, and genuinely excited to participate.
Over the past several years I've taught students ranging from elementary school to adults in classrooms, one-on-one tutoring sessions, and online lessons. I've worked with English learners from around the world as well as American middle and high school students preparing for school, standardized tests, and college applications.
As a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant in Austria, I teach English to hundreds of high school students each year while creating engaging lessons about American culture, current events, speaking confidence, grammar, writing, and critical thinking. My students know me for bringing energy, creativity, and lots of discussion into every lesson.
I also specialize in helping students with academic writing and the U.S. college application process. I've guided students through college essays, scholarship applications, and admissions materials for universities including Brown, Duke, Villanova, and many other competitive schools. I enjoy helping students discover their authentic voice while strengthening their writing.
Because I've studied International Studies at American University (graduating Magna Cum Laude with a 3.90 GPA), I especially enjoy working with students interested in politics, international affairs, history, global issues, and academic writing.
Whether you're preparing for university, improving your English conversation, writing stronger essays, or simply building confidence speaking English, I'll create lessons that are practical, encouraging, and enjoyable.
I look forward to helping you achieve your goals!

My classroom is a positive, judgment-free environment where mistakes are welcomed as an important part of learning. I encourage students to ask questions, express their opinions, and challenge themselves without worrying about being perfect. Many of my students tell me they appreciate my enthusiasm, patience, and ability to make lessons feel like conversations rather than lectures.
I enjoy getting to know my students and incorporating their hobbies, interests, and experiences into our lessons. This makes learning more engaging and encourages natural conversation. I also celebrate progress along the way, because recognizing small achievements helps build confidence and keeps students motivated.
I believe students are most motivated when they feel comfortable, supported, and genuinely interested in what they are learning. Rather than relying on memorization, I create lessons that connect English to each student's personal goals, whether that's preparing for university, improving conversation skills, advancing their career, or simply feeling more confident speaking English.
Ultimately, my goal is for students to leave every lesson feeling more confident than when they arrived. When students enjoy learning and can clearly see their own progress, motivation comes naturally.
