About James
The focus of my research has been towards experimental high-energy astrophysics. At the same time I stayed involved in private physics tutoring for undergraduates at Notre Dame, Purdue, and now Indianapolis-area schools. Two academic groups have contracted me for group tutoring sessions: Notre Dame’s Academic Services for Student-Athletes and Purdue’s Navy ROTC program. In a larger classroom setting I have six years of teaching introductory and upper-level undergraduate physics, astronomy and math classes at IU Indianapolis and University of Indianapolis.

I take the time to understand my student's needs and also to figure out in which areas or operations they are most likely to have difficulties. I try to follow a model of graduated release: initially working most of a homework problem but over time providing more opportunities for the student to work out the problem on their own. By the time a big test rolls around, I will monitor a practice test and provide insights after each worked problem. It is vital that the student gains that flexibility in order to do his/her own work well.
