About Olivia
I am a friendly and studious graduate from the University of Birmingham, having achieved a 1st Class Hons. in my BA Modern Languages (French and Chinese) with Business Management 2014-18. I am will commence my MSc in Contemporary Chinese Studies at the University of Oxford in October 2018.
During my undergraduate degree, I completed a 3 month internship near Rennes, France along with an intensive summer language programme. I also spent the academic year at Tsinghua University in Beijing for 10 months during which I was awarded the Confucius Scholarship. Hence, I am confident in sharing my knowledge, advice and guidance on studying French and Chinese up to A level. I personally believe studying languages should only be interactive, engaging and fun hence I will not only run through exam technique, grammar structures and past papers, but I will provide students with website links, wider reading suggestions and media materials based on their personal interests.
Moreover, I am confident in tutoring English as a foreign language and have experience in tutoring Chinese, French, Greek, German and Spanish nationals. For example, I have taught Chinese children (aged 5-10) whilst living in Beijing which focused more on interactive and engaging lessons. I have tailored an intensive English-Business programme to a Spanish national who was visiting Birmingham for a business trip.
I am confident in preparing Primary School children for the 11+ having taught myself the technique at a young age, and ultimately passing the examination in 2007. I also tutored my little brother in verbal, non-verbal and mathematics. He excelled in all areas and was admitted to a very good Grammar School in 2012.
